2017 List of Seminar Titles

Students, please read this information carefully!

What are seminars?

Seminars are “mini-courses” - each seminar will meet 6 times (twice a week over a 3-week period).
One set of seminars will be offered in June, and another set will be offered in July.
Seminars will be offered on Monday and Wednesdays or Tuesday-Thursdays
either from 1 pm to 2:45 pm or 3 pm to 4:45 pm.

Students must choose at least 2 seminars/month, but no more than 4/month.
For seminar descriptions, please see: http://bioethics.yale.edu/seminar-list

They all sound good!! How do I choose?

During the summer program, we encourage you to go out of your comfort zone.
This is a wonderful time to open yourself up to new possibilities. If you haven’t ever
taken a philosophy course, consider taking one in the summer institute. Know nothing about
war & genocide or military ethics? Consider how new views can help you question your current beliefs.

How does sign-up work?

First, starting March 16th, students will submit their interests in the seminars.

Please fill out this form for June: http://bioethics.yale.edu/seminar-pref-June
and this form for July: http://bioethics.yale.edu/seminar-pref-July

Second, using this feedback, we will create the schedule.
Third, students will submit their requests based on the schedule.

What if a couple seminars are really popular?

If any seminar is exceedingly popular, we may change the schedule to make that seminar open to a large group.

Oh no, I might not get all my top picks??

Students may not get all their top picks because we work very hard to provide a small-group experience -
this limits the size of our classes. Do not be disappointed if you don’t get your top picks. All of our
seminar leaders are extraordinary, and we are very confident you will find value in your experience.
